Suspension Training is a very mystical realm of training. The whole point of the Shredded Shaman is quite literally to demystify much of the concepts, ideas, and trends within the world of fitness by bringing it back to the old school roots of Physical Culture. So, a piece on the fundamentals and nuances of suspension training is long overdue. To be fair, it’s not that mystical of a training implement or method. But it is considerably specialized and this needs to be kept in mind when creating and curating content on the matter. Pretty much, if you’re not on the TRX website or some affiliate, you won’t get very nuanced and detailed content on suspension training. Not to the level that you should be. On the other hand, there’s a bunch of workouts out there that feature the suspension trainer as the main implement, yet do not treat it with the same respect – providing at least a very basic education and exposition – as they do other implements and training methods such as kettlebells or even gymnastic rings. This piece is intended to provide you with all you need to begin to make sense of suspension training and begin to make the most of your suspension trainer, itself.

This piece is the first in a long series of articles I will be putting together on the essentials of contemporary physical culture. Contemporary Physical Culture is, in contrast to Old School Physical Culture, simply a modern approach to those ancestral insights. After all, the pioneers of what is basically summed up as the precursor to our current day industry lived over a century ago. And we’ve learned so much since they’ve laid what is in understated and tremendous foundation. We truly stand on the shoulders of giants. And now we have myriad tools at our disposal to further expand on that legacy. The one that will be the focus of this article is Elastic Resistance and, by extension, Variable Resistance Training.
10/23/2021 0 Comments The Tom Holland Workout - Train To Be The Leading Man of An Entire Hollywood Studio (or at least 2 franchises and counting)
Tom Holland is really coming into his own and apparently it’s time for Spidey to do some growing up too. No Way Home looks like an absolutely insane and amazing (no pun intended) last chapter for this coming of age arc we’ve seen Spider Man go through since his debut in the MCU. As well as an insane setup for the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel. So, for the first time ever I’ve designed a program template inspired by Spider Man as well as, arguably, the best actor to ever take up the role in what is arguably one of the greatest contemporary film universes/franchises. I hope you’re ready for some bodyweight/calisthenics madness because this template is not for the faint of heart. But if you can stick with it - you’ll be ready to kick some ass with The Avengers and maybe even dive into your own multiverse of madness.
10/23/2021 0 Comments The Battinson Functional Hypertrophy Workout - A Functional Mass Program for The Batman Physique
There were a lot of nonbelievers when Robert Pattinson was cast as the Caped Crusader in Matt Reeves' adaptation of Batman Year One. I, for one, was a believer. I did, however, have some concerns when it came to the physicality this role demanded. But after teaser upon teaser. And trailer upon trailer, most recently the trailer which announced the official date via DC Fandome, those concerns have been assuaged. Robert Pattinson has truly been able to transform himself into Battinson. Much the way that Affleck was able to bring a signature physicality to the Snyderverse Batman that earned the name Batfleck, as it was markedly reminiscent of the Arkham video game franchise. In this article I will breakdown what it takes to pull off a transformation worthy of a spot on the BatFamily roster.
10/1/2021 0 Comments Daredevil/Charlie Cox Workout Okay, so things are heating up over at Marvel. The MCU is in full effect with the Dr.Strange film dropping next month. Hot on the heels of their newest series - Luke Cage. And while I’m not sure if I’ll be doing a Dr.Strange workout (he’s just not that type of hero), I would be remiss not to give you a workout for the MCU show that broke the mold - Daredevil. As you all know I am a huge nerd. And I wanted to share this workout, not only for edutainment purposes, but in anticipation of the upcoming “The Defenders” series. |
