The Flash is one of the most iconic superheroes of all time. Known for his speed and wit, he has been a member of the Justice League since it’s inception. His cunning and speed have made him a valued asset in some of the comic book world’s most crucial conflicts. And he’s evolved over the years. If you haven’t been keeping up with comics over the years, things have changed for the better. The Flash was already the fastest superhero in any company’s mythos - both canon and non-canon. But his use of the speed force has only improved. His travels through time and space have become more common and pivotal. And he has extrapolated from the speed force more power than any other user. Next year we get to see much of this come to life through the origin story of the JLA. One of my favorite actors, Ezra Miller, will be tapping into the speedforce to bring the comic world to the silver screen. To do so, he had to get in superhero shape before he could take up the mantle of the Flash. We haven’t gotten any official workouts for Miller or Ray Fisher (Cyborg), so once again I’ll have to improvise. This workout will be a simple full body split for hypertrophy. The catch - it’s a circuit, to get you in and out of the gym (or wherever you workout) in a Flash (don’t judge me). I’m also including a sample sprint interval that alternates sprints with burpees.

Ever since the debut of the Justice League trailer I’ve been one anxious nerd. The premiere is only one year and one month away and I can’t contain my excitement for this film. I know that DC Comics has a lot of haters for some reason, but I’m equally a fanboy of both DC and Marvel. And while Warner Bros. Seems to interfere a bit too much post-production, their casting decisions have been as solid as Marvel’s. So far my comic book and entertainment workouts haven’t focused on live action movies or television. But that’s all about to change today.
I know, I know. This workout has been beaten more times than Krillen. I haven’t paid much attention to other Goku workouts over the years, so I don’t know what the status quo is. But I can tell you that in this workout we will focus on one thing – size. This will be a high volume workout to make some impressive gains with calisthenics. Let’s begin. 9/18/2016 0 Comments Bar Side Chats: You've Got Calisthenics All Wrong (Pt.5) - Suspension Training (TRX and Rings)Suspension Training is hands down one of my favorite methods of bodyweight training. The name of the game is progressive overload and there is probably no easier way to achieve this than with suspension training. While there are an unlimited number of progressions, you can use a handful of progressions for a good while and still improve your physique and fitness. This is because all you have to do to achieve progressive overload is increase the angle/leverage. Suspension training is usually divided up between suspension straps (such as the TRX) and Gymnastic Rings training. Both are beneficial and there is some overlap, but there are still key differences between the two 9/17/2016 0 Comments Bar Side Chats: You've Got Calisthenics All Wrong (Pt.4) - Weighted CalisthenicsWeighted Calisthenics is hands down one of my top three training methods. Something about taking these progressions and weighing them down, still striving for decent form rep after rep - It’s hardcore. It’s a simple method that leads to extraordinary results. Weighted and resisted calisthenics has led to some extraordinary gains in strength and aesthetics, not only for me, but for much of the bar athlete community. In this article, I will comprehensively explain what weighted/resisted calisthenics is, how it’s done, and why it should even be done in the first place. |
