It’s been a week and as promised, I delivered an entire Justice League workout series. It wasn’t easy. But it was fun and I hope it will be for you too. Below I have a little outline and quick guide to the entire series. I’ll always do that for series like this to make it easier for you to navigate.

Aquaman is hands down one of the most underrated superheroes of all time. People assume he’s just some aquatic Dr.Dolittle. But little do they know, he’s overpowered as hell. Move the f*ck over Poseidon, Arthur Curry is the new king of the seven seas. Aquaman is one of DC Comic’s oldest and most classic superheroes. He has extraordinary powers – able to lift entire city blocks. Even though he’s king of the ocean and sea, he can basically fly. He was one of the first superheroes to “leap tall buildings in a single bound”. He can swim at Mach 20 and Mach 5 speeds. If you can’t tell already, Aquaman is one of my favorite superheroes at DC. Next year the King of Atlantis will come to life in the Justice League movie. Portraying him will be Jason Momoa, the 6’4 Hawaian/Native American giant that is no stranger to playing powerful rulers and warriors. Playing Conan the Barbarian in the 2011 reboot, as well as Khal Drogo in the critically acclaimed Game of Thrones. This is a refreshing break from the roles he’s sometimes typecast in. Because Arthur Curry is a complex character in the comics
With the premiere of Wonder Woman this week and so many other superhero films right around the corner, I wanted to share one of my favorite superhero inspired workouts that I’ve programmed recently. Inspired by, well, one of my favorite superheroes - Thor.
In my intro post to weighted calisthenics, I said that it was one of my all time favorite ways to train. That hasn’t changed since then. In this article I’ll go a little more in depth. Providing a method to the madness. First to build strength, then to build muscle. So take notes and get your weight belts and vests ready. Wonder Woman has long been a symbol of girl power. Whether in print, animated, or live action with Lynda Carter. She’s the epitome of a powerful woman, a goddess. When Lynda Carter took up the role in 1975 she soon became an icon herself. To this day she is still Wonder Woman in the hearts and minds of millions. Recently, Israeli actress and beauty queen (like Lynda herself) Gal Gadot donned the lasso and bracelets in Batman v Superman. She’s noticeably more badass than she was in the Fast and Furious franchise. To step into this role she had to get into Amazon shape along with the rest of her cast. Of course she trained with Mark Twight to do so. In this workout we’ll be extrapolating different methods used to get her into goddess shape. When looking into Gadot’s official workout regime a recurring theme popped up - metabolic conditioning. You might be familiar with this from the Cyborg workout. It seems Gadot, too, followed CrossFit style workouts. So now that we know this, let’s adapt it to Progressive Calisthenics. |
